How to install Windows

What's up everyone! Tech Elite MaydenAmerica, has put together this step by step guide on how to install Windows. If you need more help, head on over to our Discord at https://discord.gg/robeytech.

To follow this guide and install Windows, you will need a thumb drive (flash drive) with at least 8GB of space.

Download the Windows 11 Installation Media - Click the picture to take you to the download.

Double click on the newly downloaded Windows 11 Installation Media found in your Downloads folder.

If you agree to Microsoft's Terms click "Accept."

Choose your Language and Edition and click "Next."

Select "USB flash drive" and click "Next."

Select your USB Flash Drive (with at least 8GB of total capacity) and click "Next" again.

Note: This will delete everything on the USB Flash Drive that you select. Be sure to backup any important files that may have been stored on this drive.

Windows will download and create your bootable Windows USB Flash Drive.

Once the installer is done click "Finish."

Plug in your newly created Windows USB Flash Drive into your new PC.

Turn on your new PC with your Windows USB plugged in and press the corresponding F key for your motherboard multiple times until you see a new screen.

    - F8: Asus
    - F11: MSI, ASRock
    - F12: Gigabyte

With your Windows USB Flash Drive selected press "Enter" on your keyboard.

Select your language, time and currency format, and keyboard input method and click "Next."

Click "Install now."

Click "I don't have a product key." You can input your product key later in Windows Settings. Saving this for later ensures that if anything goes wrong you can swap out your motherboard without having to troubleshoot your Windows key.

Select your version of Windows and click "Next." Most people will be satisfied with Windows 11 Home. As a general rule of thumb if you don't know why you would need Windows 11 Pro, you probably don't need it.

If you agree with Microsoft's Terms of Service select the check box and click "Next."

Click "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)."

Select the Unallocated Space and click "Next." If you are reusing a previous drive, there may be several partitions listed here. Select the partitions from the drive you want to install Windows onto and click "Delete" for each one. Once the drive you want to install Windows onto only has Unallocated Space left, select it, and hit "Next."

Note: If you have multiple drives you only need to delete the partitions on the drives you intend to install Windows onto. Check carefully to make sure you don't delete games or files from drives you want to save the data on.

Windows will begin the install process.

You're done! Your PC will reboot and you will be greeted with the Windows 11 Setup screen.
